What can you do to reduce or end the physical feelings of anger?!


Question:

What can you do to reduce or end the physical feelings of anger?

When the feelings of anger are welling up inside me and I want to throw something against the wall and smash things with my bare hands, what is a good way to physically reduce the feeling instead of suppressing it with self control, because when I suppress it, it just comes out in another way later like verbally. Writing about it doesn't work, make me more pissed.


Answers:

You could throw ice against a brick wall, hard enough to smash the ice.
You could tear up an old newspaper into shreds.
You can shred an old piece of fabric.
Exercise or boxing are good releasers.
Slash an empty soda bottle or an old shirt or a piece of cardboard.
Break sticks.
Clean your house; it uses a lot of energy but has positive results.
Try snapping your wrist with a rubberband. It stings but releases some frustration.
You may want to see a counselor about anger management or getting to the root of your anger.
