downers make me feel more at peace with society, without them i cannot leave my house

I'm schizophrenic and I take Abilify, Zoloft, Wellbutrin and Lorazepam. Together they make me act and feel completely normal. I haven't had any symptoms of schizophrenia for over 4 years. I started driving again after I quit for 8 years. I suggest you always take some kind of medication, hopefully prescription, to get you through the day. There's nothing wrong with that. That's why they make downers - for people like us. Good Luck!
