I'm going thru withdrawal and need help.........?

I have been taking Lexapro for 3 months. I was recently taken off of Lexapro due to some symtptoms I've been experiencing. My doctor obviously thought that the Lexapro may be the reason for these symptoms and told me to stop taking the Lexapro "cold turkey". Now I've been experiencing this "zapping" feeling in my head, almost as if I'm getting a small jolt of electricty sent to my head every few seconds. I went online to read up on withdrawal symptoms from this medication and a number of people wrote in complaining of the same exact symptoms. I am SURE I am experiencing withdrawal. So my question is how would I go about weaning myself off this medication properly to relieve myself of this?

I just want you to know that I am not a doctor, but I am amazed that your doctor would have even suggested that! I have been weaned off of many different phsyciatric meds and my doctor never once told me to stop cold turkey! I would suggest trying to be your own doctor and take one full tablet, usually the symptoms will go away within 6 hours, atleast that is what I found when researching your question. Then I would go and get a pill cutter and cut your pills in half. Take half for 7 days and then stop. If you cut down to half and you are still getting side effects, then cut the pill in quarters and take 3/4 of the pill for 7 days and cut down slower until done. If none of this works, I would say, get a new doctor. She obviously does not have your best interests in mind. She of all people should know better then to just cut you off cold turkey.
