Why does memory fade and at what rate? and what forces determine the rate?

im just sitting here thinking of stuff and was wondering. also i was wondering .... when i ejaculate, what pushes the sperm out of me? ok thanks

Your question is really too broad. Some memories may 'fade' when the neural connections associated with them break. But really, there are many models of memory.

I remember talking in my undergraduate cognition class about whether we have a saturation point-- that is, do old memories leave as new memories are created? (I don't think so, but it's a possibility.)

There's also the issue of recall versus recognition. Did you ever have something trigger a memory that you had "completely forgotten about"? Happens to me all the time... so the memories seem to be there, but we don't seem to have immediate/conscious access to all of them.

You might want to get a cognition text book from the library...
