No logical reason for the person being attacked, you mean.
The attacker always has a good (to them) reason for the attack.
The problem is trying to understand the attacker's logic. That's what S.W.A.T. team and hostage negotiators try to do every day. Most attackers are mentally unbalanced, that's why their logic is so difficult to unravel. It usually turns out that the attacker was under some mental stress from a totally unrelated problem to the one which prompted the attack.
