I can't understand why people "like" or even "love" things?!

Question:

I can't understand why people "like" or even "love" things?

I often hear people go on and on about how much they love some movie or song or band or comic book or short story or whatever, or they say it's "my favorite" and they go back to something over and over again. Even the things I like, like doo wop music or the two or three DVD movies I have, I only watch every couple of years at the most. I mean I like Fight Club, have the DVD, but I haven't watched the movie in four years. I just feel little or nothing that strongly. Probably the same reason I never settled on a career and don't really have any interest in doing anything more than once in a long while. I'm always searching for some new thing, hoping I'll find it excellent, but instead finding it mediocre. Even if I laugh at something, a second latter I just feel hollow inside. I guess it's depression, but how can it go on and on for so long...?

Answers:

Depression in some can last their entire life unless they get help. I would recommend getting a doctors appointment as soon as possible so you can start to enjoy life.
You become bored very fast with just about everything it seems and this is not how it has to be.
There are a lot of things I like books, movies, work, my kids and so I read all the time, rent DVDs, go to work and interact with my kids. However, even if it is a movie I really like I don't watch it over and over till I know it word for word but I know many people that do that. Just because you and I don't think that same way means that there is anything wrong with us. In your case though, you seem to be having a rough time by not accepting life the way it is and how good it could be.
