Intern needs help about how to socialize at work.?

I am usually a very outgoing funny person but ever since I started work at my internship, I have become more introverted because I just don't feel comfortable where I am. It is too late for me to change jobs so I need some advice. I try to contribute to conversations with the others who work in my marketing field but they are working on different things and I am always afraid I am going to say the wrong thing. I feel like they hate me and I haven't done anything. Maybe I'm just paranoid but I need some imput, some help. Any ideas?

They may feel a little threatened especially if some "rookie" is coming in and offering ideas. They may see this as you trying to tell them how to do things.

I wouldn't change anything though. If you have a legitimate idea mention it. That's why your there to get some experience.

Have you tried to talk to anybody about non-work related things. What are they doing for the weekend? How did thier son/daughter do at their sports game last night? Have they seen any good movies lately?

If there is somebody you feel ask them if they want to go to lunch. Hopefully they will loosen up with time. Good luck!
