Questions with Ativan , need some HELP.....?

I had been taking xanax for about 6 yrs, 1 mg a day. he decided to renew my script and decided I needed a change and gave me a script for Ativan. Okay..I hope I don't sound dumb...but I need help understanding some of these feelings and side effects. Is it normal to feel sleepy all the time? Walking feels like I am floating, I can drive when it starts to level out...but does it get better? I cannot remember the xanax even making like this...it just made my life so much easier. Like I said I had been taking 1mg twice daily. Know he has me taking the Ativan 1mg in the am and another 1 mg at pm. Another question which one is stronger between the 2? If any of you who have taken it or are still taking it can give me some advice, I would greatly appreciate any feedback. This is new to me...so trying to figure out how many mgs of Ativan does it take to get the xanax 1mg strentgh. : ) Thanks

Yes you right , doctor did not allow it. He said I would be just fine. I am not feeling any panic nor anxiety....just trying to get use to the sleepy feeling. But I get up and fight it off.

Jade, I had that same issue...before answering I googled ativan and along with xanax and others they are all considered to be sedatives, some stronger than others. When I explained to my doctor about feeling tired and not being able to drive...he said my body would adjust...it has only been 3 days since I started taking it. I am alot calmer...but I do miss being able to swallow a xanax and go about my business without falling over myself.lolol. My doc did the same thing to me, he didn't ween me off of xanax..he just said no more. Next thing I know he is handing me another prescription for Ativan....and i look at him and say...Okay???? This is addicitive too, is it not? he didn't answer, walked out going to another patient. but I voiced my opinion to the nurse. They have been great about calling me and finding out how I am doing.......but I would rather have my xanax. I knew my limitations, and knew everything else about it. I am not a professional..but you can e-,mail me if you like. I just wish I knew how to get xanax.
