Hi It is an anti-psychotic I was on it for my bipolar disorder. I know anti-psychotic sounds real crazy but that's not what its about its used in bipolar as a mood stabilizer like carbamazipine is also used for epilepsy and bipolar as a mood stabilizer if you need anymore detailed information please contact me I would be more then happy to help. my I add that it was not a good med for me and had far to many side effects but I do know lots of people that have been on it and had no problems what so ever. good luck
