I have Kaiser through my mother who works for Kaiser.
Does anyone know if some or most insurances cover seeing a therapist or psychiatrist?
I dont want to be on medication unless absolutely necessary, but want to talk out my issues. But I simply cannot afford several hundres dollars a month.

Often, insurance companies do cover psychotherapy and psychiatry.
You will need to call the phone number on the back of your insurance card and ask them if you have in-network, outpatient, mental health benefits. You'll also want to ask if you have a deductible, how many sessions are covered, what your copay will be, and you can also ask them to mail you a list of in-network providers.
