Has anyone been in a situation where they found out that their spouse/loved one !

Question:

Has anyone been in a situation where they found out that their spouse/loved one had an illness that was not?

disclosed to them at the time they got married/started going out/started their relationship?

(e.g. - something like ms or bipolar or anything serious enough that the person would want to conceal it cos of shame or fear or whatever reason, and the illness was not obvious or noticeable)

I'd like to know what went through your mind as in your initial reaction or shock and also what your secondary thoughts were after (assuming if...) you thought about it and saw it from their point of view?

Also if you feel comfortable to share, how did you find out? Did he/she tell you? Did someone else? Did you see a report by accident? Did you find out by accident?

Thanks. Kinda thinking of this myself as I was dx'd with MS 3 yrs ago, unmarried and not sure if she'd run if she knew. I know people have said that if she loves you then she'll stick with you, but I can't see that as being the case always.

Answers:

Everyone, will "get something" in their life time. If the person in question can not handle that situation, then you are better off without them. And, that person is alot more grown up and being realistic if they know they could not endure the trials and tribulations of a disease. But, there are those who can and have. I to had to tell someone about a serious issue with me. He chose to stay. Why...because he said I was being honest and upfront with him. Be honest and confront the issue now. You will feel better in the long run...and you will know weather that person could truly love thru "sickness and health. i wish you good luck and God Bless.
