What is going on if you set goals but never finish anything?!

Question:

What is going on if you set goals but never finish anything?

I set goals and begin with very high energy and excitement. I focus on one thing with most of my energy. The activity takes up a lot of time, and I put off doing other things (studying and focusing at work). After about 4-6 weeks I suddenly lose interest in that activity. I feel demoralized, my energy level drops and get very depressed. What is going on? Is this a mental disorder? I've had this problem for most of my adult life.

Answers:

It is symptomatic of bipolar disorder, or possibly ADD/ADHD, or borderline personality disorder, so use the questionairre at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris... on page 5; read all of pages 1 and 2, and the ADD/ADHD on page 7. Refuse to start (but note it for later) a new on, until you have finished the old one, or done as much as you reasonably can, for the moment. Undertake these ONLY after study and work duties have been properly attended to. Make a schedule(s), and mark things off when completed.
