Meditative cognitive behavioral therapy?!

Question:

Meditative cognitive behavioral therapy?

i have been going to a counselor for a while for depression. it was pretty bad for a while... i had problems seeing things (sorth of hallucinating... but not often) she cannot prescribe medication (this is at a clinic where they don't do that, plus i have no insurance or $) but she suggested i attend a group that teaches meditation and how to use this to keep emotions from spiraling out of control. has anyone done this before? does it also help with racing thoughts or seeing things?

the seeing things part is difficult to describe... i have told my counselor about some of my experiences and she doesn't seem alarmed... i'm a painter, maybe i just have intense visual thoughts? however, they get ahead of me sometimes...

Answers:

It will help some with racing thoughts.....but seeing things is a different issue. You need to get a psychiatrist. (FEELING GOOD the new mood therapy.....is a good cognitive therapy book you can read at home to help yourself)
