How do i get over impulsed of pulling out my hair because of trichotillomania?!


Question:

How do i get over impulsed of pulling out my hair because of trichotillomania?

i have a thing called "trich" and i can't stop pulling out my eyelashes and the hair on top of my head. I have tried everything from stressballs, to medication. i have also talked to some people with the same thing and i feel comfortable talking with them and they dont make me feel like an outsider, i still feel unwanted and i want to overcome this. any suggestions?

I had two friends in school who had the same thing.I want to start off by saying although I havn't gone through it myself-I have seen the pain worry and upsets this brings to a persons life.The first friend I had was in middle school.She was taunted by other kids and I could never get why -I always had her back and she confided in me somewhat.I belive she overcame pulling with meds and aid of stress relief by doing things she enjoyed.She had a horrible home life and was always very stressed, when her mom finally wanted to help I think it helped relive alot of things.The other friend I had was in highschool.When I first met her I had no idea she had the same thing.She actually bleached what she had left of her hair so she could say it broke off.I was at her house oneday and her mom finally told me she was so happy we got along because she hadn't had many people over since she started pulling ( her father passed away).I never mentioned to her that I knew until much much later in our friendship.I noticed that she always rubbed her shoulders and she later told me it was to keep from pulling.She always had boyfriends because no matter what she had great confidence!I think knowing that you are still you and that you are beautiful will be key in helping overcome.Yes its not somthing that you can hide,people will ask stare and somtimes be mean.But you have to keep faith!If you except yourself people will except you.And the people that do will be the best people in your life!I know you can get past this now all you have to do is belive.Try focusing on an action that involves touthcing yourself (like my friend did with rubbing her neck).Do things you enjoy!Try to delete stressful thinsg from you life as best as you can,and avoid new stress.Don't worry,I know it can be hard,but really dont worry.Look to the future!You will overcome this :)
