This is my personal experience...
Severe mood swings. Rapid cycling mood swings. I'd go from severely depressed to way too happy. My highs and lows would get so bad at times I would hurt myself just to get out of them or bring me to the opposite. My thought process often went at 100 miles per hour when I was on an "up" cycle. I couldn't get a thought straight at all. My lows were so bad most of the time that hopelessness was all I knew.
If you've been diagnosed I have two recommendations....1. get a second opinion first. Bi-polar disorder is a very popular diagnoses. 2. If in fact you are bi-polar and get put on medicines, do not give up if the first medication doesn't help or you have to go back to get your doses increased. The unfortunate thing is no two people are the same, so it sometimes takes a few tries before getting the right medication down.
