Where within the A.A. literature does the phrase "we are not doctors" !

Question:

Where within the A.A. literature does the phrase "we are not doctors" appear (Big Book or elsewhere)?

I'm referring to ANY conference approved A.A. literature, either the Big Book or anywhere else. Please answer only if you have a document and page reference. Please don't answer if you want to ask why I'm asking this or if you just want to discuss the topic of "we are not doctors".

Answers:

It's the title of a September 1984 article in the AA Grapevine: "We are not doctors."

I could have sworn I had heard it sometime before, as if I'd read the phrase out loud in a book meeting. But searching the 1st 164 pages of the Big Book and all the 12 & 12 was without the expected results. I also seem to remember reading the phrase in the AA pamphlet "AA members and medications" but it isn't in the newly revised version.

Nonetheless, you gave this oldtimer a pleasant few hours thumbing through the literature and googling. Thanks!
