A Passion For All Things 'Gory'?!

Question:

A Passion For All Things 'Gory'?

Just recently, Ive been really into quite gory films. Ever since watching 'Saw 1', 'Saw 2' and 'Saw 3' Ive been really fascinated in pain and all things disturbing. And I think its had some effect on me. Ive recently been contemplating murder due to this overwhelming anger I get becuase of this one person in my life. Ive been trying to think of a no-strings-attached plan for murder. Ive also been contemplating suicide, but not becuase I hate my life or any reasons like that, but more becuase Im ever so curious and I desire an experience of utter distraught. But I dont really associate this gory-ness with sadness. I somehow see pain as something beautiful, and at some times, really funny. I was in fits of laughter after watching the Saw films for some reason. Do you think maybe this is just a passion? Or some weird mental illness!?

Im 13 years old. Maybe those films are rated 18's for a reason.

Answers:

Those movies are purely entertainment and don't take all factors of death into account. They don't show the loss that a family or friend goes through when someone that they love dies, they only show a glorified look at the actual acts of violence. You are young and I think it is normal to be intrigued by such bold actions made in films today, but at the same time it is essential to make a mature decision and look at the whole picture and take the film for what it is--entertainment of glorified violence. Have you talked to anyone about your interest in these types of films? Perhaps see if there is a counselor at your school that you can talk to about it. And absolutely NEVER resort to physical violence to yourself or others, the repercussions (jail, being institutionalized) are unimaginable. Also, try to be versatile in your movie choices and switch it up a bit. When I was younger I loved Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, etc and since then have migrated towards comedies, which for me personally has been a much happier transition. You have your whole life ahead of you and you don't need to spend it watching movies that make you question your sanity! Hope this helped :)
