What are stress related psychosomatic disorders?!

Question:

What are stress related psychosomatic disorders?

Answers:

I just finished abnormal psychology so I think I can answer your questions! :) Anything that falls under the umberella of a Somatoform disorder could be caused by stress, since the somatoform disorders do not have any organic causes but do have symptoms of illness. They don't really know what causes them.

- Hypochondriasis - This is someone that focuses on the idea that they have a particular disease.

- Fibromyalgia - A lot of doctors will tell you this is not a medical but a psychological disease. Again here we have symptoms but not diagnosable illness. I have known people with this and every one of them has had extreme amounts of past stress and trauma.

- pain disorder- Someone that experiences pain so badly that it causes signifigant life disruption.

- conversion disorder- this is a physical malfunction or some sort of loss of control. There is no underlying organic pathology. It is also known as hysteria .

-factitious disorder- A person feigns disability or illness so that they in some way benefit form attention and concern. This could be brought about from stress.

Those are off the top of my head. Any of these could be precipitated by stress. Stress can cause us to do strange and wacky things and it can cause us to feel really awful physically. I hope I've helped.
