Shy (inexperienced dates) need your input?!

Question:

Shy (inexperienced dates) need your input?

Why would nice/shyguy (who never dates) flirt with me and only me every day for 2 years and then not call me?
after he said he "would really like that" when i gave him my number and told him to call me to chat. was he flat-out lying to me when he said that? it seems out of character. was he fake-flirting with me all along? we're in college and in a few of the same classes.

this made me feel bad and as though i don't know if even the nice/shy guys are trustworthy anymore. think it's that or do you think this guy only liked me at school and doesn't want to talk to me elsewhere.

do any of you nice guys do that? are you really not interested all the time you are flirting? do you freak out with the phone and not call her thinking she probably doesn't like you back? do you freak out with the thought of dating? do you quickly lose interest when you think she may like you? yes, i am an psycology major and may be overanalyzing this, but it really hurts!

Answers:

The answer to your question is that he is shy. While he may have been flirting with you for 2 years, giving your number and asking him to call you jumped things up to a more serious level.

He is afraid to call you. A phone call is a hundred times more intimate than flirting with a classmate.

He may come around, or you may have to coax him into the light. Be gentle.

Perhaps when the two of you are in one of your shared classes you could just off-handedly suggest that you go grab some coffee, or lunch, or a walk. That way, you can spend some time getting to know each other better without pressure. The more he gets to know you and the closer he gets to you the easier it will be for him to talk with you on the phone.
