Question:

I need a cure for my insomnia.?

Last night I stayed up watching tv until 2 am, because I couldn't sleep. I played with my cat, I walked around the balcony, all the time until about 2:30 am I went back to my room to watch TV. I need to know what works for insomnia.Please answer.

First of all, you need to remember that your bedroom is for SLEEPING. If you become used to watching TV in your room, your body is going to associate your bedroom with watching TV, thus making it harder to fall asleep. The only thing that you should use your room for is sleeping. That way, when you go to bed, your body knows what it needs to do. Watch TV in the living room.

Also, I find it easier to drift off to sleep after reading a book for a while.

The best thing to do is get into a routine. Wake up at the same time every day and go to bed at the same time. Your body will fall into this routine after a couple of weeks and you won't even need an alarm clock!

Another thing that I do is sleep with a fan on. The "white noise" is calming to me. Noise from a TV, on the other hand, keeps me awake.

Finally, stay away from sleeping pills. It'd probably be okay to use a sleeping pill for the first 2 nights of trying to get into a routine, but after that, stop. They can be very addictive and make your insomnia worse.
