What do you do when you feel like you lost yourself?!

What do you do when you feel like you lost yourself?

I mean how do you come back to reality and have self control? When everything in your past haunts you because it was so terrible...how do you find happiness after hitting rock bottom? When you just feel alone and not yourself anymore...I have love and support but it dosent seem to break this wall, so I can be free again.Meds make me worse..what can I do?


Answers:

Well sweet tweetheart, I go through that every so often. Life gets busy, it gets in the way, you get a lot of things on your mind and then one day you're feeling kinda down and you stop for a second and realize you're floating and not grounded at all. You need to say to yourself, "Hey! Where are my breadcrumbs? I turned around and they're gone and I'm totally lost! I'm gonna find my way back on my own!"

Then make a pact with yourself to STOP thinking about your bad past because you're a survivor, you got through it, and it didn't break you. It tried but it DIDN'T break you. And going over it again and again is filling your lovely soul with toxic waste. And that doesn't make you happy.

And tell yourself that you're a GOOD person, and a strong survivor and you DESERVE to feel happiness and be grounded. Sometimes what I do is dig up my buried sense of humour and think to myself, "they should make a TV series about my freaking life!" And then I think of some scenes and some dialogue and make it funny so I don't let my depressed side take it so seriously.

Finally, go outside and find a wonderful place to stand or sit on the ground. Not on pavement or asphalt but on grass. And if it's a sunny day, feel the sun burning the toxic thoughts out of you and replacing it with a whole bunch of pats on the back for being the strong person you are despite everything negative that happens. And if it's raining, feel the raindrops washing away whatever made you down and disconnected. Breath deep and imagine you're breathing really beautiful energy that the little planet is giving to you because you need it.

Remember, you're a good person and people love you. The past will never go away if you think hard enough about it. It will go away if you accept that it happened and affirm that you endured it. You're a fighter, not a victim. You hung in there and gave your past "the middle finger."

And when you feel up to it, go and make some people laugh. Laughter is magic wrapped in confetti or stuffed inside a whoopee cushion.
