How to overcome vices?!

Question:

How to overcome vices?

Okay.... I'm recognizing that I have some vices... that have been all to present in my life, particularly as of lately. I've been smoking since I was 15, I'm 24 now. I've quit for 6 months at a time but... find myself smoking again... It's comfortable... to accompany good conversation, a night at the bar, or a stressed out moment. I also find myself drinking... not a lot but all to often, 6 outta 7 nights a week. I occasionally smoke pot but... haven't purchased any since that would be ONE more vice. What have you done in the past that has helped you grow beyond not just temporary vice relief but enabled you to NOT go back... That's my problem... quitting and not picking it back up months later...

Answers:

Take the time to make alternative plans to deal with frustration, boredom or stress, write it down and carry it in a wallet with you. Do all that before you quit. Find some hard candy (maybe) you can use instead. As for the drinking, avoid situations and people who make you want to drink. Find an alcohol free drink you like and stay away from bars and clubs.
