Why do people with Mental Health Diagnosis come off their meds?!
Question:
Why do people with Mental Health Diagnosis come off their meds?
You see it time and time again. They get better get a job and act "normal" then they come off their meds. They know that the meds made them better but they still come off of them. I don't have any mental health concerns or family members but i do work with them as part of my job and i don't understand why they are non compliant
Answers:
Personally, I don't want to be on medication for the rest of my life. I hate that I need chemicals constantly in my body to feel "normal". I do miss who I was before the medicine, but not as much as I miss the person I was before I got sick, which is what keeps me on the meds at all. Sometimes it just seems like too much work to refill them. Sometimes I forget. Sometimes I just get bitter that I need them and try to see how I do without them. It's not always a conscious choice, nor is it a logical one. But if you're looking for consistantly logic choices from the mentally ill, you may need to rethink the logic of that.
