Should i go to the doctors with my suspected ADD?!
Question:
Should i go to the doctors with my suspected ADD?
i dont want to seem as if i am timewasting but i do generally think i have a problem.
Im 16 years old and for the 3 years i have always had bad attention span. Even if im really interested in a subject at school, after 5 minuits im away with the fairies. I tend to write the date and title in my work book and then switch off, or do my own thing. Im a intelligent girl, i was predicted straight A's in my gcses but my level has dropped to a C. Im not reaching the full potential that i could achieve. My friends always point out that i have a bad attention span, i simply thought it was me being lazy and apathetic - as i always started taskes and never finished them.Even my maths teacher has had words with my mother because im failing ( she thinks im getting distracted by others and moves me but the same problem still occurs)
I also have bad organisational skills and my room is a mess, i also would forget my head if it wanst screwed on!
what could a doctor do to help me( if anything)
Answers:
A doctor would assess you for ADD by asking a series of questions or having you complete a questionnaire. If you meet the criteria for ADD, you might be prescribed a stimulant medication such as ritalin or adderall. If it's not ADD, you might be suffering from bad study habits.
