Can somebody really be random?!

Can somebody really be random?

Random-Lacking any definite plan, order, or purpose.

But can anything be truly random? People say, "You are being random." When somebody is running in circles...but there is a pattern in running in circles. And there is a train in thought. If you write down a "random" number, you choose to write down that number. Now...let's say you get ideas from the public...and they write down their ideas on things that you should do before you die. Is that being random? A train of thought was going around somebody. They don't just automatically write things down uncontrollably. And when you draw out the ideas...you choose to grasp that peice of paper. So...is there any possible way somebody can really be random?

Random is a word that became popular around the time i was in college (over 10 years ago) and I remember thinking that it was a very inaccurate word to be used the way it was. I think of random as being a mathmatical term, not a way to describe people, though it is used like that quite often. It's just one of those fad words that most people who use it don't even understand. Kind of like Alanis Morisette and her song "isn't it ironic" or whatever it was called...had nothing to do with irony, it was just a word that caught on.
