Do you hear movie quotes?!
Question:
Do you hear movie quotes?
It's like a part of my brain wants to comment on what's going on, so chimes in with my memory of a line from a movie or some other performance. They usually make perfect sense for what's going around me, like a perfect word to describe the situation, only it's much more than one word.
One line I hear a lot is from Back To The Future, where Doc Brown in 1955 quizzes Marty from the future while Doc is wearing his mind-reading machine, proving to Doc that, "This damn thing doesn't work at all!" I hear that sometimes when I've decided that's the case with something in reality.
This is better than the earwigs I mentioned in my last question. The movie quotes I hear don't repeat. They just sum up the moment and that's it. Unfortunately it's very hard to share such a moment with someone else unless one's friends are willing to develop a whole language of such quotes. I haven't found friends like that. Explaining it is like having to explain a joke to someone. I'll keep trying.

I understand you. I get that a lot with song lyrics, parts of books, and random movie quotes. It's a little wacky, because when I'm trying to maintain a conversation and I get Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker duking it out in my head.... I tend not to listen and people get annoyed. Oops. And sometimes, song lyrics will just be provoked by a certain word or certain sound. It's kind of cool, though, because I get my own little variety show within the confines of my skull. I used to think I had schizophrenia, but I only hear voices occasionally, and more frequently I hear music or movies.
