How do you deal with severely irrational fears?!

Question:

How do you deal with severely irrational fears?

I am terrified of the most irrational things. I am afraid of mirrors, bathrooms, kitchens, the dark, doors with keyholes, the space under a door, windows, it just goes on and on. I've been to therapy and my doctor told me to try to understand what purpose the fears are serving, but there isn't one. It's like I'm spending my life waiting for something terrible to happen to me.

Answers:

How long have you had these fears and how did you get them? I used to have phobias too (spiders, thick etc.)
But the way to deal with them is to realize that nothing (bad) is going to happen !! You have to realize that mirrors, bathrooms and kitchens can't hurt you !!!!

Remember THEY CAN'T KILL YOU AND THEY WON'T HURT YOU.. NOTHING'S GOING TO HAPPEN

Just remeber YOU'RE IN CONTROL... the bathrooms etc. can't hurt you. You're the only one who can hurt yourself by imagining things. Try confronting your fears one step at a time (take a step closer everyday to the object you fear).
Also make your mind up and say I'm tired of fearing this!''
The worst thing isn't getting hurt by something (in my case it's spiders) the worst part is living with fear!!!
