How do you tell the difference between someone who is comteplating suicide and gothic/emo...?

i dont know anyone personally who is doing this
but i am taking a life managment skills class
and they say that teens often show warning signs
such as obsession with death and such
how do you tell the difference between someone who is obsessed with death and gothic/emo/punk and someone who is contemplating suicide?
Answers:
sometimes the goth/emo/punk does coincide with depression.
you personally shouoldnt try to diagnose someone. leave that to a gp.
however, there should be more subtle warning signs.
has the person changed their personality ie withdrawn recently.?
stopped calling friends?
stopped hanging around other people?
that would generally point to depression.
