When diagnosed with clinical depression, how can one be confident that there is !

Question:

When diagnosed with clinical depression, how can one be confident that there is hope at the end?

I know this question has been asked many times, but I've pushed everyone out of my life, including the man I thought I loved. I feel alone and hopeless. I am getting help from my doctor and a therapist, but I can't see any light at the end of the tunnel. How can people be so sure there is one when I can't see it? Is being alone forever such a bad thing to settle for?

Answers:

It's not the actually being alone that is so bad, it's the concept of "settling" that is a problem. I know you feel alone and hopeless and I know it is hard to see a way out of the darkness, but I know this as well: any person who strives to the best of their ability and resources to achieve change in their life, will. Life and emotions are constantly shifting, whether you can see it at the moment or not. No day can ever last more than 24 hours no matter how bad a day it is. No dark of night can escape the light of the morning which follows. You already have hope or you wouldn't be questioning, so you are already on your way towards the light. Tie an emotional knot behind you and refuse to move backwards, by doing so you will be moving forward. Life is better than just settling. You'll see, I promise.
