Is it normal for someone to prefer to be alone and away from other people?

I retired at what some consider a young age. I enjoy my hobbies of sculpting, woodcarving, box and clock making. And I spend time in the afternoons on this comp and yard maintenance. I have a dog and we walk through the woods a lot also. I live in a very rural area. I have not socialized with anyone intentionally(ocassionally some folks will stop by) in almost 3 years and I have no desire to. I honestly believe I am more happy and contented than I have ever been. I have had a couple of old friends call and say they were concerned. I try to explain to them but they don't seem to understand.

I'd say you have an Anti-social Personality. Nothing wrong with it, if you are really happy and content, and are not hurting anyone else by isolating. --- You didn't mention family. Did you have any?
