St. Johns Wort IS a drug. Besides exercise, L-tryptophan (I can't spell it, sorry) in foods such as turkey gets converted into serotonin. Sex raises levels of dopamine which through feedback loops can raise serotonin levels. Most enjoyable activities have this effect. Eating junk food can temporarily raise dopamine and serotonin levels also, then you crash and get fat. None of this works without medication for major depression.
