How do I help a recovering addict?
My sister is a recovering heroin addict and i would like some tips on how i can encourage her or help her along without insulting her or pushing her away from me.
Answers:
Dont baby her but dont ignore her either. A person going through drug treatment is a hard time for them. It helps them big time when they know they have someone they can lean on for support or just to know someone cares about them. Try going out to movies, the mall and whatever else with your sister. Encourage her to get a job if she doesnt already have one and compliment her on what she is doing right and tell her when she is doing something wrong.
