How can I be motivated, even with lack of sleep?!


Question:

How can I be motivated, even with lack of sleep?

I used to be very lazy in college, or so I thought. Turns out, I was just so busy. I wasn't getting enough sleep. I don't have a hard time sleeping. I just had so much work. All I could think about was how tired I was, and I need to finish all my work as quickly (not as best) as possible so I can take a nap or sleep early.

I wasn't motivated (and had no time) to exercise. I didn't care about my appearance. so I never tried to find a boyfriend. I wasn't energetic enough to socialize, so I didn't care if people didn't like me. I just kept thinking how tired I was... and consequently, I was not happy.

For the past year, I had a job where I got enough sleep, so I was social, had a boyfriend, and had enough time and energy to exercise and be active. I was in general happy and motivated.

But now, I have a new project where I commute far and don't get a lot of sleep. My motivation level is falling so badly, and it is reminiscent of college. I'm scared. What do I do?


Answers:

Be sure to eat a healthy breakfast. Believe it or not, that will give you a lot of energy thoughout the day, more so then if you skip breakfast. Also, when you get out of the car after the long commute take a minute to just stand up and stretch and whenever you can throughout the day get up and walk around, around your desk, take the stairs instead of the elevator or get outside for a quick walk. Even 5 minutes can help boost your energy level and give you a pick up. At the end of the day, take a long hot bath and unwind and try to get as much sleep as you can. If you start to feel depressed you can always talk to your doctor because there are medications out there that can help you feel "normal!" Good luck!
