you do not have to be afraid. you just need to have good common sense, a caring and understanding attitude, compassion , a non judgmental attitude, and a desire to help all people of all races, sexual orientation, religion. i started nursing in a large psychiatric hospital when i weighed ninety pounds, no education, or experience, and was scared to death. i worked there for over 30 years, and it was the best rewarding job i ever had in my life. if you have all the above attributes i mentioned, the rest of the things you need to become a nurse will be taught to you before you become a nurse. you will get hands on experience with qualified instructors , and then you may not find it so scary. good luck go for it.
