Acute foot-in-mouth syndrom... any cure???!
Question:
Acute foot-in-mouth syndrom... any cure???
I actually think before I speak, but I still end up putting my foot in my mouth! It tends to happen when I am around guys I like, but it gets worse in situations where I should be sensitive and caring. I end up sounding really stupid. Please help!
Answers:
Sometimes, when you are trying to be likable, like around guys, you end up just not being yourself.
So you need to be yourself.
You also need to realize that not everything needs to be said.
Is it true? Is it helpful? Will it uplift? And if the answer is no, no, or no, don't say it. Sometimes you can learn a lot more by listening anyway...Plus, if you ask more questions, you're going to find out a lot more about other people, and you'll find it easier to avoid putting your foot in your mouth, because you'll realize sooner what not to say.
It's pretty cool you realize you have this problem. That's half the battle right there...and it's really cool you can be honest enough to admit it.
Now that you've heard all that, just remember, be yourself. If not yourself, who else would you be??? you can't go wrong being yourself, and should you put your foot in your mouth, you can always apologize--and turn it into a joke. Silly me, there I go again, putting my foot in my mouth...so sorry! True friends will understand and forgive you...
