this sounds like you are looking for one on one counseling which in my opinion is a great place to begin.
AA is great, but that might be what the near future holds for you.
i don't know where you live but in most communities there is help available in finding appropriate counseling for yourself and those who are close to you and would work in a supportive way in reaching your goal.
call either the chamber of commerce in your town, or the city hall for community services,and if they are no help, a local county hospital or medical center may be an excellent resource for your short term difficulties.
it would be best to speak with a professional before you tried to detox on your own, (that is if the counseling is for you.)
then alanon support groups, and AA meetings are truly the best thing going to keep your head on straight.
at first it's seems like a lot of complaining going on at these meetings and blah blah blah. however, once you have attended just a few times there are some really cool people who know the ropes and can serve as a type of mentor or at least someone "on your side" who can fill you in on the juicy's.
well your on your way to improvement. and, you can fall and get up about a million times, but as long as you get up each time. my hat is off to you.
