Any LCSW's out there?!

Question:

Any LCSW's out there?

Hi All!

I will be taking my LCSW test next month and was wondering if there was anything you all found particularly helpful in passing this exam. I am not in a State with its own test, I will be taking the nation wide standarized LCSW test. Thanks in advanced :)

Answers:

Know your clinical information, especially diagnosis and assessment and the terminology used in describing symptoms on a mental status exam. Review your psychopathology material. The clinical material is stressed heavily as that is what the licensing accomplishes. It also won't hurt to be familiar with major drug categories and the classes of anti-depressants, but I doubt they'll expect you to know all the specific meds, but make sure you know what an SSRI is. I'd also stress the importance of being familiar with CBT as it is evedenced-based and therefore an area of focus. Further, be familiar with trauma disorders and treatment approaches (like CBT, EMDR) as that area is receiving more and more wide-spread attention as its impact is becoming more broadly recognized.
Best of luck to you!!!!
