What is ADD?!

Question:

What is ADD?

What is it and what medications are out there?

Answers:

Attention Deficit Disorder, also known as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Basically, your brain isn't receiving enough stimulation, which is why they generally prescribe stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin. An individual with ADD, or ADHD often has troubles concentrating or sitting still for long periods of time.

ADD can be classified in three different types:
-hyperactive
-inattentive
-mixed

Stratterra is another medication that can be prescribed. It is preferred by some people because it is a non-stimulant treatment.

The only way to be sure you have ADHD is to see a mental health professional to get an evaluation to make sure the symptoms you are experiencing aren't from another underlying disorder.
