What are some ways to tell if there is dwarfism in the family, no one in my fami!
Question:
What are some ways to tell if there is dwarfism in the family, no one in my family is a dwarf but there might?
have been at one time. As well I am short and have signs of dwarfism but am not a dwarf. As well when I ask family members about it every one is really hush hush about it.
Answers:
You may want to go to a geneticist and get some testing done. They can test for the allele that indicates dwarfism. Genetics testing can be expensive, and the results take a long time to receive. Insurance will most likely not cover the testing. I'd suggest trying to have an honest discussion with your family and express your concern about the impact of this allele on your future children, etc. Dwarfism isn't something to be ashamed about. It's just a different trait.
