Unsanitary, certainly. Who knows what holes they've been in or whose balls have been in those holes before yours? You should consider a different form of fore-play.
I'm not a golfer, so I don't lick golf balls, can't lick the others down south, but if I could . . .. Now to get back to your question, if you like licking your golf balls I don't see how unhealthy that can be unless they've rolled in chemicals placed on the ground or dog crap. If it's your other balls, lucky you, but at least shower first.
