Question: Just curious.... one night me and a close male friend were talking about sex and experiences and things of that nature. Anyway, he mentioned that he started masturbating around 12 but no semen came out till he was 16 or 17 and when it did he was totally freaked and had no idea what it was. I always assumed that if a boy can get hard, he can ***, but I guess that's wrong?? Also, isn't 17 a little late, not to be too judgmental, just wondering because I knew what "that white stuff" was when I was in jr. high. How sheltered would a 17 year old boy have to be not to know what comes out when he gets happy??

I was a clever kid and figured out how to masturbate to climax around age 9 or so. A few years later (age 13?) my body matured and the climaxes started to be accompanied by ejaculate. It surprised hell out of me the first time something squirted out. For about a year the liquid was completely clear.
Eventually I was all the way through puberty and started shooting regular white semen by the time I was 14.
He was prolly just ignorant. Me, I's say I had this all figured out at 14. And wasn't scared.

in his case, probably he was ignorant and less observant or could be that his body matured a bit late. Different people reach puberty at different age depending on hormonal changes and life-experinces.

It does seem a tad retarded. But then, not everyone has the insight to understand simple basic things. I remember reading about an Asian couple in Southeast Asia who had been trying for years to have a baby but without success. Finally they went to a doctor and it turns out for years he had been porking her in the butt. They just didn't know.

LOL, I think your right, 17 might be a little old. I think my brothers and bf figured that out around 15 or maybe a couple years younger. But... did you know that toddlers can get "hard" ? lol Its true, I mean, I assume that they cannot ejaculate but who would be sick enough to ever figure it out for sure. My bf said he was 12 or 13 and he would come but it would be clear and watery.. like lacking semen. I think he was pry pretty sheltered. But some people are just really late bloomers. Pry too much information but I never got my period until I was 16 or 17. I knew what to expect but I was still a little surprised and certain aspects. I thought it would cause actual pain.. not just cramps in my lower abdomen. My mom didn't get her period until she was like 18 or 19. That is weird! lol

Not really surprising, based on some of the questions that have popped up here, from adults as well. Many guys seem to think masterbation is just playing with the penis, and assume if they do that, they have masterbated. So he probably never masterbated long enough or sensually aroused himself to ejaculation until that moment at 17. I've answered several questions lately from guys from 15 and up about concerns if they are late getting into puberty because they can't ejac, yet are sporting full pubes and 6'' er so should obviously be able to, as you are right in saying--if a boy can get hard, he can ejaculate.
I think this forum is great in that boys can learn a lot more than they ever would otherwise. Wish it and the internet was available when I was growing up! With little or no sex education at school, and usually none from the parents, it leaves it up to trial and error and heresay. So if a kid doesn't have a big social group, perhaps has no brothers or sisters to compare with, and grows up in a strict, religious environment, sure, he may be very naive when it comes to sex. The heresay, too, that we all learn from others is usually half wrong too.
If a boy is 16 or 17 before they c u m something is wrong. All male babies and on up, get erections but I could get that wonderful feeling and ejaculate at 13 and still do it often now that I'm 22 and getting sex. At 13 I also had 7 inches and it grew only another 1 1/2 inches but got real thick.
