3000 calorie diet.?!

Question: I have lost about 55 pounds over the last 18 months. I am a 30 year old man 6' 1", at about 185 pounds. I have done this by averaging around 2500 calories per day, and running at least 4 days a week. I am freaking starving to death all the time and am sick of it. Ive come to a turning point in my diet where I no longer care about losing too much more weight. Are there any men out there having any luck with a 3000 calorie, or higher diet, along with devoted exercise? I know I will get a lot of feedback about how 3000 calories is way too much to lose/maintain your weight on. But maybe someone else has done it.

Well done on the weight loss. You prolly dont need to lose much weight now do you? Just put on some beef and get your weight back up to 210..lol.

Maybe you could start pumping a few freeweights and cut your running back to 3 sessions a week. You are likely to be burning around 3200 Cals a day now... so extra muslce mass will increase your weight (without the fat) as well as increasing your Calorie intake requirements... and therefore you should still be burning body fat ... and eating more to boot.

I eat around 2800 Cals and burn 3200... same build as you but 16 years older. It should be easier for you, mate. Increase your meats (protein) .... and keep your fats low (icecream) ... and ration your carbs... and eat salad, fruit and fresh vegetables..... 2500 Cals is not a diet at all... just a healthy lifestyle.

All i have to say is 3,000 calories is a little bit to many maybe go from 2500 from 2700 or 2600 and good job on losing!

Wow, I'm impressed you lost that much weight eating that much.

I think that if you are constantly hungry, you may eat a little more, but not necessarily another 500 calories. Maybe a small snack.

And just keep track of your weight, see if you stay the same, lose more or gain.

I'm not overweight, but I'm out of shape, kudos to you for running 4 days a week.

good luck

I am maintaining my weight (225 at 6"4') on 4000 calories per day, but I eat no junk food, five meals per day, and exercise (weight training, kettlebell exercise, and intense cardio 5 or 6 days per week); also I'm over 50, so work harder, eat well, and monitor your weight and body composition.
