Male Bras Question?!

Question: Hi, I am a 16 year old male, Height is 5 foot 9, weight is 140. So I am not fat, or am only very slightly overweight. I started developing breasts when I was 14 (please, this is serious) and they have grown quite large for a man since. I don't know how sizing works, but my doctor said that they are almost as large as the average girl my age.

Now I have been complaining of
A) Neck Pain
B) Back Pain

And my doctor said that it was because I didn't have proper support on my chest. Is this true?

I also complained that my chest bounced and jiggled alot when I ran, which I do often.

He said that i should start wearing a bra normally, and a sports bra when running.

Now here are my questions...

A) Should I?
B) Would it be acceptable if I COVERED it up (like an un-noticable bra)
C) Any other suggestions (other than loose weight, I am not overweight, My doctor said I am in good shape, I don't drink soda, eat healthfully, etc.)

A) Don't be embarrassed. It's a condition, it cannot be helped, so therefore it shouldn't be embarrassing.
B) Yes, wear a bra. It's much more comfortable than letting your breasts hang loose. Trust me, I've been wearing one since I was ten or eleven years old, and being much larger than all the other girls when I graduated from high school.
C) You can get bras in different colors to match your clothing. For example, don't buy a black bra and wear it with a white shirt. Buy a good white bra, as it can be concealed easily. You can also buy special straps for the bra that are clear or flesh colored so they don't stand out as much.
D) If your breasts are medium-large, you might want to put baby powder under them after showering. Even with a bra, it can chafe your skin under neath, and it can be uncomfortable. Trust me.
E) As for lack of support, I'm not really sure. I've almost always worn a bra, except for a few days here or there when I've been too lazy, or the straps hurt my shoulders. To help with posture [which can help ease back pain,] don't slouch when sitting, and keep your back straight when walking, as much as possible.

I wish you luck! Drop me a line sometime, tell me if this answer was any help or not.

Happy holidays!

wear a sportsbra with an undershirt so it is covered up.

Are you serious? You aren`t even overweight so I dont really get it...

A) If it's really bothering you, yes.
B) Definately. I think it would be fine.
C) I would say do what your doctor suggests. If this si really bothering you, by all means you should do what you want.

I'm sure it would be fine as long as no one knew you were wearing it. You would be on the receiving end of many jokes.

Weird.....uhhhhh yeah............listento ur doctor.

GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I would either wear a sports bra or a tight compression shirt like under armor

Mhm... Idk... I'd say wear a sports bra alot of the time... (although it sounds silly for a guy) But don't worry about what others think about your "bra"... Would u rather have back/neck pains, or wear a slightly (if at all) noticable "bra"... Good luck! :]

Cant the doctor figure out why you are developing breasts? and take measures to counter it?

There are a lot of shops in San Francisco that sell bras customized for men, and they are well aware of the potential back pain you could get, along with how to compensate for it.
If you have the time, I'd advise making an excursion to the area for advice.

Hope that helps!

Get a new doctor or wear a bra. You don't weigh much. If you are out of shape, it could be the reason for the pain. It really depends on the type of pain.

Have you and your doctor looked into the reason why you would be developing breasts? This is not a normal thing to happen to a teenager, you should find out if there is a hormonal cause.

Other than that, you should not just start wearing a bra to support the problem. And there are no un-noticable bras.

well im a little big to just cut down on fast food but you can eat what you want but not to much smaller portions like if you dring coke cut down on them they have alot of sugar in one can i hope you feel better keep your head up.

My exboyfriend had a similar problem. He was able to get his insurance to cover a procedure to have a breast reduction when he was 19. You should look into that. I would be afraid that if you were to change inthe locker room, you'd get made fun of if you wore a bra, unless you constantly wore an undershirt over the bra... anyways, I would look into what it would take to get them removed.

you could try another doctor but until then just double up your shirts

also try doing some weight training like bench press, try using free weights. If it bothers you to run, try some other cardio activities, like boxing on a heavy bag, riding a bike. I like the underarmor idea. Good luck man

u should go to a different doctor... maybe u might not have enough testorone or something...

Well, I dont have any experience in this so Im sorry I cant help you with the bra advice. However, I am surprised that your doc didnt at all mention hormone therapy, cause it sounds like this is what you might need because your chest is only going to keep growing until you're 21 or so. I would suggest that you go to an endocrinologist (a hormone doc) and take some test and see why this is happening to you. I think a bra is just a cover-up for what's happening to your body, and I think you should take steps to avoid any further feminine developments in your body, or lack or masculine developments. Perhaps your testes are overexpressing estrogen, which can lead to this type of problem. In the meanwhile, im sure you can go to the store and pretend like you're buying a bra for your girlfriend, just buy a sports bra, because it will push everything in, not "lift and define" it like regular bras do. Anyways, email me if you have any other q's. good luck!

i dont know, a bra would give you more support, but if you have gym, and if you have to get dressed for gym, it might be kinda awkward. i dont know what you mean by covering it up, but you could just wear an undershirt all teh time, so nobody would know. i would just stick with the sprts bra though. hope i helped, and good luck. =)

A) yes. sporting bras are awesome. they always stay on your shoulders. so just use sport bras.
B) yes. with tanks and shirts. & try not to be embarassed by it. remember, other ppl have it too (that's why your condition has a name)
C) hmm just keep being healthy. if u stop then it will just grow worse. and don't wear so many bright and tight clothes. they show EVERYTHING.

Yep go for the bra, as a girl, I know how much it hurts when playing sport etc. without proper support! If you're embarrassed about wearing obviously a girl's bra, maybe look into shirts and singlets that have built-in support. Most sports shops etc have these and they're great!
Hope that helps!

yes if u want to get a bra then get one b/c maybe your back wont hurt anymore

dont care what other people say its your body and u can do whatever u want with it.
