Confused as to what is really to be considered overweight....?!

Question: I am 5'10" and have been taking rapid weight gain formulas (with very high protein) since mid to late summer, and have gone from around 148 pounds to 186 pounds. I have been working out and doing stretching exercises, and have noticed a positive difference (although I am no where near done). I just did the bmi calculator that said I am now overweight. I have been a skinny little guy for as long as I can recall, yet I have been calculated as being overweight? I am wondering on this, and would like some answers, as I do not look or feel anywhere near overweight.

BMI calculators are helpful but don't completely place all your trust in them. If you are gaining muscle and not fat, it's good to remember that muscle weighs more than fat. Even though the BMI says you are overweight, I would take it with a grain of salt, to me it just sounds like you are healthly gaining weight. The only thing I would be cautious of is gaining too much weight too fast. If you do not feel or look overweight and living a relatively healthy lifestyle, don't pay too much mind to the number.

BMI of 26 or more

BMI calculators don't take muscle mass into consideration. If you're fit, definitely don't worry about it.

it doesn't matter what people say about you as long as you like the way you are is ok

I'm 6'1 and 160 pounds and look pretty skinny. I would like to get where you are. Could you do me a favor and tell me what your schedule was for working out and exercising and how often did you take the weight gain formulas, before or after work out?
And by the way the bmi calculator isn't too accurate as it doesn't really take into account muscle mass. According to the bmi calculator all the NFL linemen would be obese

i wouldnt think twice about it, im 5'9 190 and considered obese, but its all muscle...i think the bmi calcs are more meant for people who dont exercise/lift weights

being overweight isn't bad at all...look at professional athletes. What you don't want is to be overFAT...i'd go get your body fat % checked, and if that's in the healthy range, then you're fine...weight is only a number....
