Shaving question?!

Question: So I shaved and applied aftershave on the area I shaved. I got a big bump on my face now. Did I do something wrong or do I just have a reaction?

You are obviously new to shaving so perhaps you are just one of us guys with sensitive skin . Also it takes a bit of time to get your skin used to being scraped by a blade
You have to be careful this bump is not the infection of a hair follicle . If the swelling goes away you are fine , if not and it gets sore you may have to consult your GP.
Try using a shaving cream/foam specifically for sensitive skin type . Wash your face first with warm water and just soap , then rinse but do not towel dry before you apply the shave cream or foam .
I also think any of the multi blade razors are best for sensitive skin as the higher no of blades make it more efficient and less corrosive on your skin. The other thing you must do is only use your own razor , never share with anyone else as that is a way to pass on infections.

its probably an ingrown hair.

Your skin is irritated, or you have an allergic reaction. If it doesn't swell up anymore or if it goes down, you should be fine. Wash it with a bit of water and if you have any aloe vera, put a bit on it.

If it swells up more, take some Benadryl just in case and contact a doctor if anything else swells up or if you feel bad.

The biggest mistake we make when we shave is to shave against the grain. I know it feels like you're shaving closer, but shaving against the grain can promote ingrown hairs (which this sounds like). Try shaving in the direction your hairs are growing, not against them. Also, aftershave is unnecessary, and you might have had an irritation from it. Just splash a little cold water on afterwards.
