Some men think this is a manly thing to do.Make them look cool.Just like some people swear as they talk.Others spit every where.Some eat whit mouth open.some pass gas right and left.Others don't brush there theed.Bad habits Yes -may-bee?Just take people as they are and if there habits offends you tell them kindly.

They are inmature, uncultured and a waste on society. They have not grown up yet and faced the fact that in the real world you cannot do that and be considered well mannered. Plus they think they are cool, when really they are losers..

obviously those who do that never learn that it is inappropriate to do that.. well behaved people don't ...the reason is mostly sensation of hair growing, or lack of hygiene .. than it turns to a bad habit .. those who do that tend also to burp in public, spit everywhere etc...\
I remember a friend of mine who was limping one day telling everybody that his knees were hurting, and told me that he spilled his hot coffee on his private areas,, had to go change at home his cloths.. and was in severe pain, and could not touch that area or even mention the truth....

I take to feel if they still have what little they had hadn't fallen off with all the rigamaroll there going throuh! Or just to adjust the package they have to try to improve the appearance for those that might be interested. Good Luck hope this answers your question!
