If you are exerting energy and working out for several minutes and not sweating, you are most likely deficient in IODINE. This is one of the ways of telling whether you are deficient in this mineral. Your body really needs this mineral and you will not be making thyroid hormone like you need to without it. 4% of the iodine you eat will go toward making thyroid hormones. You need tyrosine in your diet as well and in combination with the iodine, you will keep your thyroid healthy.

Once your iodine level is where it should be, you will sweat. You will also notice that you have more energy to exercise. Many people are deficient in this mineral because iodine competes with fluoride for absorption. If you brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste, drink fluoridated water, drink sodas (these contain lots of fluoride from the water they use), you will be deficient.

I would avoid fluoride like the plague. Our modern society is loaded with it everywhere. Many children and adults get goiters, hypothyroidism, and other ailments because of the Municipalities think they are clever by adding it to the water supplies. It doesn't stop tooth decay, it just makes the teeth harder and more brittle.

Also, make sure you are getting enough water into your body. Take your total body weight and divide by 2. That number is the number of ounces you need to drink each day. If you drink coffee, tea, or sodas, you will need to add to that amount 1-1/2 times the liquid in any of those drinks in water to compensate for the diuretic effect it has on your body causing it to become dehydrated.

If you live in Arizona, or somewhere where it's really dry, then you don't sweat very much. Cold weather also makes you sweat less.

well it could be because you're not drinking enough water as a runner otherwise... i think how much you sweat varies from person to person, i didn't sweat much at all when i ran during my cross country years. but if you're not sweating AT ALL...i don't think that's a good sign.

If you're not exerting yourself and just going at a slow pace, then of course you're not gonna sweat. Try adding some sprints after a couple of minutes and then jog and then sprint all out again. Do this for a couple of miles and you should sweat.

I get that too, just damp skin not really sweating skin. You got to push your self more your body is probably used to your running habits so intensify it. You might also have no liquid to sweat so drink some water or gatorade.
