A lads mind!!! hehe, what goes on in there?!

Question: OK, i've been reading through the lads questions out of sheer boredness and oh my god! How many 'is this a normal size?' questions are there? Anyone would think all a lad does is sit in his room and measure 'it'. I was wondering what is the attraction to measuring it? (haha), i even seen a question from someone as young as like 10!! hehe, bit of an obsession? lol. I need an insite... lots of love...

it no more odd then sitting around reading lads questions. boring people are bored and do boring things....

bit of an obsession LOL

Guys need to feel important or "in charge". They also place a lot of importance into size (height, muscleature and penis size included) because in nature the larger the animal the greater his territory, number of possible mates, and position in the heirarchy of his pack is. Since the size of the penis is so connected with sexuality (and subconsciously success of mating), they tend to focus more on this part of their body.
Also, it's one of the things they know they don't really have any control over.

The reason men are so insecure about it is because women have put out there that size matters. So men start to worry if they will be able to match up. If they don't they will feel emasculated and hurt even though it is nothing they can control. So the reason men are so obsessed is because women (probably unknowingly) cause us to.

As a male, I can see where your coming from. Normal size I think is 5-7 but shorter or longer isn't abnormal at all. A phycologist Sigmond Freud had a lot of theories on the male preoccupation with size; you may want to check him out and see what he thought. (He thought the male preoccupation in size meant that the male who was preoccupied thought he was inadequate and wanted to make sure he's up-to-par) hahah. Hope it helps

I think they need to have a whole section in YA devoted to penis length and growth ideas.

It's probably something to do with that missing bit on the X / Y chromosome that gives women a superiority complex and thus makes us feel inferior. Plus they keep saying "size doesn't matter" and then you hear them muttering about "he's really small down there".

Btw, the above is generalising....I've not had enough g/friends for it to apply yet! ;-)

Well, for most guys your age, puberty and the whole body changing is a big stress on their minds. They don't know what is going on, or if it is going right. Their friends and other guys at school all lie about how hung they are, and how well they sexually function, and that adds to the insecurity. This wasn't such a big issue back 50 or 60 years ago, when guys this age had to work on the farm or in factories, and had little time to worry about how big their whanger was-- plus they were around adult males and older teens who weren't shy about hanging it out. Unlike today, where teens seem to hide from each other and are afraid someone will see them pee.
