If you have avoided scratching them for a few months then there is nothing wrong with you. You just need to give your balls a good scratching and move on. I really believe you have been sneaking a scratch in now and then just hoping the itch would go away. If that is the case then probably your girlfriend has caught the crabs and inadvertently passed them on to you.
You dont have sex to get worms, all you have to do is shake someones hand that has them (and refrain from chewing your nails).
Theres a product called Pine Tar. Its safe to use on your pubic region and relieves itching straight away also eczema etc.
Make sure you dont have jock itch. Its a fungal infection common to males. Another symptom is white, crusty discharge. Its very contagious so if you have it, you have to use a clean towel everytime and clean underwear. It thrives in warm, moist areas. If you have jock itch you need an anti-fungal cream.
It could also be a reaction to your washing powder.
