Cartilage is avascular; it contains no blood supply. Ear cartilage is considered permanent cartilage, as it never ossifies (turns into bone) like other cartilage in the body can.

As the cartilage contains no blood supply, it cannot warm itself via blood flow. The thin layer of skin covering the ear has some capillaries, but not enough (at least in your case) to keep the ear warm. The tip of your nose is probably cold too!

As another poster suggested, earmuffs or a ski band to cover your ears might help!

I have no idea what is going on but if I were you I would wear a hat

Ears just get cold now and then..

I really don't know sorry :'(

because you have less blood in your ears and less body heat.

The blood in the capillaries of the ear are what keeps it warm. In cold weather, those capillaries constrict. With less warm blood, the ears themselves become cold. The danger is if the blood actually freezes in the capillaries which can lead to frostbite. In cold weather, I heartily recommend ear muffs or a hat and/or scarf to cover the ears.

Your ears lack blood vessels, which warm your body. Whenever you feel hot, it's because the blood vessels below your skin are dilated.

they wouldn't, if you wore ear muffs
